FMGS Server destroyed…

The FMGS Server suffered a severe catastrophic failure and now is unable to boot. All FMGS A320 components were running on an overclocked Intel 2500k Quad Core 4.6 Ghz — this machine has been running in top form for over 5 years, so it was just a matter of time.

With no working computer to run the flight simulator system comes the excuse to build a new system, and a new ambitious project. Before the project was running on two computers – a Server computer (running all the Jeehell FMGS software components), and the Visual Generator (running Prepar3D). I have decided to see how well one of the newer type processors would be able to run both the Server computer, and the VG on one system — this simplifies the setup without the need to network the computers, and decreases the maintenance required.

New components were bought, and will be installed. I have heard of cockpit builders running on one system, so it would be interesting to test the power of the i7-7700k and to see if it can maintain smooth frame rates in Prepar3D and all the avionics panels. The existing SSD, power supply unit, and graphics card – Nvidia 970 will be carried over from the previous build.
