ProSim has launched their FMS trainer tool; focused on FMS and FCU training, the trainer allows you to setup route plans and simulate a flight. Although there is no peripheral input or visual generation output, the trainer is ‘free-play’ and can be used for familiarisation with aircraft navigation, airport runways, approaches and departures, and the Airbus FMGS itself. The simulated aircraft flight controls (gears, flaps, throttle, speed brakes) can be controlled using the on-screen push buttons.

The tool will be useful for students, and pilots looking for a cost effective way to to train on a flat screen by running an FMGS avionics suite with no required investment in avionics and cockpit hardware.
